    Description

AAU Suspends Jesse Owens, New York Times.
You are bidding on a newspaper from August 17th 1936, immediately after the Berlin Olympics, where Jesse Owens planned to travel with the Olympic team on a tour to Stockholm, Sweden. However, Jesse Owens was offered advertising deals up to ,000 and was advised by his coach, Larry Snyder, to take ahold of the opportunity while it was still available. In response, the Amateur Athletic Union suspended Jesse Owens's amateur license. This would prove detrimental in future competitions that Jesse Owens would be allowed to participate in, including the Olympics in 1940.
